You and I have our best chance ever to weaken the U.N. and set the stage for U.S. withdrawal. But we must be vigilant and prepared to block any effort by the U.N. to get involved in rebuilding Iraq. We must stand against any new resolution and any new legislation that calls for U.N. funding.
Various interests are already posturing and preaching on how best to rebuild Iraq. Not surprisingly, the United Nations has demanded that they take the reins. Insultingly, Kofi Annan has decreed that the only way the Iraqi war will be legitimate is if the U.N. is allowed to lead the rebuilding process. This should illicit little more than a chuckle from Congress and the White House.
The fact is, the reason the U.S. had to go into Iraq and spill our own blood was because the United Nations FAILED to act and instead gave credence to a brutal dictator. France, Germany and Russia gave aid, technology and weaponry to Saddam Hussein, refused to join the coalition to dethrone him, and now want to step in with the United Nations and claim a piece of the Iraq pie.
Grassroots activists MUST be prepared to block every single one of the U.N.’s proposals to take the lead in rebuilding Iraq. We have come so far in our battle to show the world that the U.N. is corrupt, dangerous and irrelevant to peace. Letting the U.N. rebuild Iraq would only allow it to rebuild its phony image—while making a royal mess of Iraq in the process.
STAY ALERT! Be ready to pounce at the first congressional suggestion that the U.N. be permitted to rebuild Iraq! In the meantime, follow the Action to Take below.

Senate Passes Green "Faith-based" Bill
Last week, the Senate caved to the demands of green groups who were eager to get in on all the "faith-based" action. The Senate passed S. 476, The CARE Act, which began as President Bush’s faith-based initiative. The vote was 95-5 in favor of the bill. Despite the cries of property rights activists across the country, S. 476 now more closely resembles a radical green wish list.
Specifically, sections 106 and 107 of S. 476 provide an unfair tax advantage to multibillion dollar land trusts like The Nature Conservancy and other radical green groups. These sections state that on sales of land and water rights, the seller will receive a 25% capital gains tax break—only if he sells to an environmental group, land trust or government agency! However, the usual high taxes apply to ALL sales to churches, orphanages, private schools, etc. If sections 106 and 107 are included in the final bill passed by both houses of Congress, the land grabs will flow like water.
FORTUNATELY, the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives does NOT want to give the greens this unfair tax advantage in their version of the President’s faith-based initiative. Although the House version of The CARE Act has yet to materialize, we must be ready to act. APC will keep you informed with any late-breaking developments.

1. Thank the following five Senators who stood up for property rights and REFUSED to go along with the green heist in the faith-based initiative. They are: Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID), Sen. Craig Thomas (R-WY), Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY), Sen. Don Nickles (R-OK), Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID). Simply call the Senate Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for each Senator by name.
