Last month, President Bush made a commitment to address the wildfire
crisis and the poor health of our nation’s forests by announcing his
Healthy Forest Initiative. Now, the Bush Administration has presented
their proposed legislation for the Healthy Forest Initiative.
As early as tomorrow, September 10th, the Senate will be
considering the Interior Appropriations Bill, and during this process an
amendment will be offered that is a key component of President Bush’s
initiative.
YOUR HELP IS CRITICAL! The following Senators must be contacted, as
many times as possible, today and tomorrow:
Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) - Phone: 202-224-5521, Fax: 202-224-2852
Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) - Phone: 202-224-5244, Fax: 202-228-2717
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) - Phone: 202-224-3841, Fax:
202-228-3954
Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) - Phone: 202-224-2651, Fax: 202-228-3687
Senator Mark Dayton (D-MN) - Phone: 202-224-3244, Fax: 202-228-2186
Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) - Phone: 202-224-4843, Fax: 202-228-1371
These are the folks who can either make or break the President’s
effort to clean up our forests and prevent catastrophic wildfires.
However, they are being lobbied hard by their fat-cat, radical
environmentalist campaign donors to REJECT Bush’s Healthy Forest
Initiative. WE MUST COUNTER THE ECO-ZEALOTS WITH A BARRAGE OF PHONE CALLS
AND FAXES!
The President’s Healthy Forest Initiative will clean up our nation’s
forests and prevent wildfire disasters. Radical environmentalist have been
locking up forests from all human contact for years through the Endangered
Species Act, lawsuits and bad legislation. The result? Sick, infested,
wildfire-prone forests. That’s why Sen. Daschle cynically exempted the
Black Hills, located in his home state of South Dakota, from legislation
and lawsuits that inhibit fire prevention. Doesn’t the rest of America
deserve the same protection???
WE MUST ACT FAST!
**Action to Take**
1. Call the Senators listed above and urge them to support the
President’s Healthy Forest Initiative. HURRY! Time is short!
2. Call Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), Chairman of the Senate Energy and
Natural Resources Committee, and tell him to STOP PLAYING POLITICS WITH
CRITICAL WILDFIRE PREVENTION!! Currently, Bingaman is acting as the chief
obstructionist to the President’s initiative. He’s in the Sierra Club’s
back pocket. We must hammer him with phone calls! Sen. Jeff Bingaman:
Phone (202) 224-5521; Fax (202) 224-2852.
